CatFlash Midnight Extended (8MB cartridge compatible with Mega Drive / Genesis)

CatFlash Midnight is an 8 MB / 64 Mbit reprogrammable cartridge compatible with the Mega Drive, Genesis, Mega Sg, Retron3, etc.

It provides 8 MB ROM space without a mapper chip, making it suitable for large homebrew releases, demos, ROM hacks, and development builds.

Using the full 8MB as ONLY been tested on original Mega Drive / Genesis 1 & 2 models.
Our board is also compatible with Genesis 3 or other consoles that use the same cartridge slot but they can only access 4MB.

Save data is stored in flash using MD Engine’s flash save mode, so there is no coin-cell battery to die and need replacing.

It can be reprogrammed as many times as needed.

The cartridge achieves its 8 MB capacity by routing the cartridge select signal to the 68000 A22 address line, avoiding the Mega-CD address collision that normally limits standard cartridges to 4 MB. Because of this design, CatFlash Midnight can't access the Mega-CD / Sega CD use.
